South Sands is a wonderful safe and clean family beach. A very short walk from Underbecks, it has plenty of lovely golden sand and a stream to dam for hours of fun.

On the beach, in the old lifeboat house, is South Sands Sailing, which offers a huge variety of watersports.

From the beach - the sea tractor above meets the ferry below - between April and October you can also catch the South Sands Ferry to Salcombe. It runs roughly every half hour on the hour and half-hour.

There are some lovely walks around Bolt Head, which is part of the South West Coastal path. The first stop on many of these walks is Overbecks.

Overbecks has a wonderful garden and some fascinating old picures of the local area. Our kids have always enjoyed looking for the friendly ghost under the stairs too.
Bolt head itself is a beautiful place - why don't you try it?
